Gerhard VORMWALD [1948-2016] was a German photographer, born in 1948 in Heidelberg. In the years 1966-1971 he studied painting and sculpture in Mannheim. He took up photography professionally in 1971 by making a series of covers for German and international magazines published in Germany. Vormwald belonged to representatives of surrealistic photography. The artist's photographs were primarily characterized by the illusion of the lack of gravity and other laws of physics, obtained by zooming in, zooming out and inverting objects. In 1983, the artist opened a studio in Paris, in addition to photography, he also painted. Vormwald died in 2016 at the age of 68. The artist participated in many exhibitions, especially in Germany and France.
