011034 Pierre Jacques PELLETIER [1869-1931] A Seaside Town
oil on canvas, 38 x 65 cm, signed l.r. "Pelletier"
Pierre Jacques PELLETIER [1869-1931] was mainly a landscape painter. He left behind numerous works, among which the most frequent are the images of Paris and seaside towns. Pelletier specialized in oils and pastels. His canvases are characterized by sketchy depiction of architecture, usually bathed in brown and gray tones, as well as finishing touches of paint made to the sky bringing out colour nuances. At the turn of 2007 and 2008 the Museum Carnavlet organized a retrospective exhibition of artist’s Parisian vedutes during which thirty works by Pelletier were presented.
